They really range in price and often the less expensive ones are not very stable. That is not the case with this one. It is very stable and is an excellent value for the money. We are using it at a second home it is perfect and we didn't spend a few thousand dollars. It took the three of us (yes our 9 year old even helped us put it together) about an hour to assemble. I have owned two bunk beds like this in the past and the bed platforms were welded together resulting in only about 8-10pcs to assemble. This bed comes with many, many more pieces - each slat supporting the mattress must individually be assembled - a time consuming process but once assembled this is a nice bed for the kids. My 4-year old simply loves it and I like the spacious feel on the bottom bunk. My two eldest boys were bunked up and my oldest son being 16 and quite tall needed a bed that could accommadate him comfortably, however my second oldest son needed something more his size which was drastically smaller. We looked for a twin over full bunk bed set and found a very reasonably priced one through Amazon and very reluctantly purchased it (bugdetary decision). Comparable beds were alot more money and I did want a metal framed bed because of the style of their room and I felt it would last longer and be more durable than a wooden on. I did not want a bed that would squeak and squawk with every movement or a thrown together contraption that would only last a year.
